I recently had the opportunity to be featured on e360TV for an episode titled:
“Beyond Mindset: Why a Sex Therapist Has the Ultimate Blueprint for a Business Built to Last.”
And honestly, that title captures something I’ve been realizing more and more over the last few years:
Business growth is deeply human work.
People often think business success is primarily about strategy, marketing, productivity, or mindset hacks. And yes, those things matter. But after years of helping couples navigate intimacy, conflict, communication, shame, trust, and emotional growth, I’ve discovered something fascinating:
The same skills that help relationships thrive are often the exact same skills that help businesses thrive.

Why a Sex Therapist Talks About Business
At first glance, sex therapy and leadership development may seem unrelated.
But when you look closer, both involve:
communication,
emotional regulation,
boundaries,
emotional intelligence,
identity,
nervous system awareness,
risk-taking,
creativity,
vulnerability,
and long-term growth.
Whether someone is struggling in a marriage or struggling as a business owner, the core question is often similar:
How do I build something meaningful without abandoning myself in the process?
That’s where my “Built to Last” framework comes in.
The Built-to-Last Model
Over the years, I kept seeing the same patterns appear everywhere. In couples struggling to reconnect. In therapists experiencing burnout. In leaders trying to build something meaningful without losing themselves.
In the episode, I discuss the framework I use across my work with couples, leaders, therapists, and entrepreneurs:
Mind → Test It
This is where curiosity begins.
People learn to think critically, challenge assumptions, experiment, and become curious instead of rigid. In business, this means testing ideas before overcommitting. In relationships, it means being willing to question old beliefs and patterns.
Body → Do It
This stage is about embodiment, nervous system awareness, taking action, and building new patterns through practice.
Humans do not grow through insight alone. We grow through action, experience, and practice. You can read every business or relationship book in the world, but eventually you have to actually do the thing.
Heart → Prove It
This is where trust develops.
Consistency, connection, and repair all matter.
In both business and intimacy, people need emotional safety to grow. This stage focuses on building credibility, relationships, and reliable systems that actually work in real life.
Soul → Own It
This is identity work.
Ask: Who are you becoming?
Many people can technically run a business but still struggle to fully own their voice, leadership, expertise, or visibility. The same thing happens in relationships and sexuality. People often struggle to fully own their desires, needs, boundaries, or authentic selves.
Spirit → Leave It
This final stage is about legacy.
Ask: What are you creating that becomes part of your legacy?
A truly sustainable business is not just profitable. It creates meaning, impact, and transformation for others. It leaves people, systems, and communities better than before.
Humans Learn Through the Whole System
One of the biggest themes in the episode is that humans are not purely logical creatures.
We learn through:
thoughts,
emotions,
bodily experiences,
relationships,
identity,
and meaning.
That’s why mindset alone often fails people by ignoring the nervous system, emotions, relationships, and lived experience, leading to burnout.
Because you cannot “mindset” your way through a dysregulated nervous system.
You cannot build sustainable leadership while ignoring your body, emotions, relationships, or values.
And you cannot create a business built to last if your entire identity collapses every time something goes wrong.
Real growth requires integrating all the parts that make you, you.
Leadership Is Relational
One thing I continue noticing across all my work is that leadership is fundamentally relational.
Whether you lead a company, a family, a classroom, a relationship, or a community… you are working with humans.
And humans do not thrive through fear, shame, or constant pressure. They thrive through safety, challenge, connection, experimentation, and meaningful purpose.
Same nervous system, different contexts. Different results.
That’s why I’m passionate about bringing together conversations about:
sex,
relationships,
business,
leadership,
emotional growth,
and legacy.
Because they are all connected.

I’m grateful to e360TV for the opportunity to share this conversation and explore what it really means to build a business (and a life) that’s healthy, meaningful, and deeply human.

Because at the end of the day, being “built to last” is not just about business success. It’s about building a life, a relationship, and a legacy that can actually hold the fullness of who you are.
